Meet Megan

Occupational Therapist

      I have been an occupational therapist for 11 years. I spent most of my early career working with children and their families through Early Intervention and outpatient practice. After struggling with my own medical difficulties, I discovered meditation and Yoga for healing. In my practice, I was confronted with challenges physically and mentally as I navigated the restrictions my body was storing and the anxiety that accompanied my lifestyle. When I discovered integrative health approaches including EFT, meditation, mindfulness, and yoga and paired them with lifestyle changes including environmental organization and routines, I was able to receive profound benefits in not only my physical health, but in my way of thinking about and living my life. As I discovered these changes, self-care practices became a bigger priority in my life. A wise person once told me if I didn't find a way to slow up now, my body would 'make me' slow up later; I am thankful that I heeded this advice. 

       Going through this practice while continuing to work in Early Intervention alongside families, I discovered that so many of the families that I worked with were struggling with many of the same things I was. In a society that focuses so intently on the future, we often are unable to focus on what is happening right NOW. I used to love trick riding on my horse, I never fully understood why I felt so good, until afterwards. It wasn't until I began studying integrative health and mindfulness that I began to understand that for that hour each week, I was 100% in the moment, because I didn't have a choice ( I would have fallen off had I not been). Being in the moment for the hour and focusing only on 'here and now,' gave my body the reset it needed to allow me to go home and fulfill my roles as a mother, wife and friend with ease and a newfound energy and patience.

       Day to day routines, responsibilities and anxieties can cause our minds to run looping patterns and create patterns of resistance that can cause dysfunction and pain to become trapped in our bodies. It can also have a profound impact our physical and emotional health.

      My mission is to share integrative health and wellness in the context of self-care routines and environmental modifications in order to assist others in finding serenity, health, confidence and presence in their lives.

My 12 year-old daughter and I had an incredible time at Megan’s sunset equine yoga session! Megan created an experience that took our minds away from any worries, and we felt like we were on a vacation! It is a complete mindfulness experience; starting with mindfulness prior to getting on the horses, relaxing yoga on the horses, and then a closing for reflection. The yoga is “at your own pace” and you only engage in stretches that are within your range of movement and comfort level.

I highly recommend participating in Megan’s equine yoga session!. I achieved a new level of focus and renewed energy. Megan gave my daughter new journaling techniques, and she has been consistently journaling every week!

I gained more insight into my own thoughts and feelings as well as some action steps that I could put into place now to help me achieve my intention. There were simple changes that seemed within reach, such as how I organized my home to allow better energy flow. These changes required little to no effort and brought me a sense of settled ease. I am impressed by and gaining confidence in my ability to generate and implement ideas for my own life, that I have discovered through meditation.

The setting brought me an overwhelming since of calm. The animals were sweet and I felt myself belly laugh for the first time in awhile. My session took place outdoors; it has never been so easy to focus. I loved it.
